Company History

Walter-Textil GmbH was founded in May 1962 with little equity and much optimism in the barracks of the parental company […] (Roland Walter Sen.) in Bad Buchau under the name of Roland Walter Textil KG . At the beginning only one warping machine was used.

After the first three very difficult years already three warping machines were used to full capacity. The production hall in Bad Buchau did not allow a further expansion of the machinery. Thus a new location was searched for.

In 1965 the foundation stone for further expansion was laid by the purchase of a site in Adrazhofen near Leutkirch im Allgäu. After two years the production hall was expanded by 800 m². Additional warping machines were bought. Now a production capacity of 120 tons per month was reached with five warping machines on 1,200 m².

Finally, in 1982 the Roland Walter Textil KG changed into the Walter-Textil GmbH. After one year the later CEOs Rudolf Ehrmann and Udo Laubenberger joined the company.

New, modern warping machines demanded a larger production site which could not be realized in Adrazhofen .Therefore, the decision was made in 1985 to build a new production hall in Leutkirch im Allgäu. In 1986 the production capacity could be increased by additional warping machines to 240 tons per month.

In 1988 the location Adrazhofen was abandoned. The production area in Leutkirch im Allgäu was expanded from 3,200 m² to 6,600 m² by the construction of another hall.

In the year 1990 another storage hall with a size of 1,600 m² was built. Rudolf Ehrmann and Udo Laubenberger were appointed CEOs of Walter-Textil GmbH.

In 1995 the founder of the company Roland Walter Senior finally retired after 33 years.

Three years later the production and storage space was expanded by another 4,500 m². Then, the production and warehousing space totaled 12,700 m². The production capacity rose to 600 tons per month.

In the year 2012 Walter-Textil GmbH celebrated its 50th anniversary and Robert Ehrmann joined the company at the end of the year.

In 2015 the going concern was clarified. Mr. Laubenberger went into retirement and Robert Ehrmann succeded him. Associated therewith the machinery was renewed and investments were initiated.

Mid-2017 Walter-Textil GmbH had been certified according to ISO 9001 und ISO 14001. This emphasizes our effort to provide high quality products and enables us to access new markets.

On the 01.10.2018 Mr. Armin Ehrmann joined the Walter-Textil GmbH. On January 01.01.2021, Armin Ehrmann was finally appointed CEO and succeeded Rudolf Ehrmann. The generation change was completed and the course set for the future.

Walter-Textil GmbH is therefore convinced that they will also be successful in the coming years and they are looking ahead with great optimism!
